Good stories can often be obscured by unpolished writing, which traps the core of a story within in a way that is difficult to access by its readers. But unpolished writing is not without saving: it only needs to be faceted and refined. This is where I come in, to help your sentences and words reflect your narrative’s light unburdened and clear.
Line-editing concerns itself with matters of style at the level of the sentence. Beyond assessing your choice of words, I will take care to point out inconsistencies in style, cliches that could be avoided, and more, so as to elevate your writing and bring it up to par with the essence of your story.
I offer a free sample edit of 500 words to give you a chance to asses if I am the right editor for you, before you commit to ordering a full manuscript edit.
When line-editing, I will cover the following:
Word choice
Sentence and paragraph flow
Redundancy and repetition
Clarity and effectiveness
Consistency in style
For edits and inline commentary, I will be using Track Changes and Comments in Microsoft Word. Please submit your manuscript to me as a Word Document, preferably formatted in Modern Manuscript Format.
Once I have finished line-editing your work, you will receive the following:
An edited copy of your manuscript with my edits and comments in Track Changes
A clean copy of your manuscript with my edits already incorporated
My standard rate for line-editing is $0.022/word ($22/1,000 words). All word counts are welcome.
